On May 1, the Central Florida Council switched to a new system to manage Unit Accounts. In the new system, units can electronically add or remove authorized users, view unit balance and transaction history, setup email notifications for low balance, and more! You will no longer need to submit paper updates every year!
Unit Committee Chairs received notification of changes last April and have been automatically designated as the controller for the Unit Account. CC’s have full authority in the account. If you are a Committee Chair and have not already set up users you would like to have access, please do so ASAP.

University of Scouting is coming Saturday, January 28, 2023! This is a day of teaching, leading, inspiring, and above all fellowship with your fellow scouters across Central Florida.
We are currently seeking Instructors to fill the colleges so we may have an amazing, fun-filled day. Whether you have taught in the past or have never taught before we are hoping that you will want to share your passion with us and we would love to have you teach a course! I am requesting a response in the next 7 days as we are assessing our needs weekly to fill the colleges. We are looking to fill classes in the following colleges:
Cub Scout studies
Youth Studies
Scout Studies
Venture Crew Studies
General Studies
Please contact Michael Hockman at [email protected] •407-920-1884.
We plan to publish the catalog and registration link by November 1st. Covid-19 hit a lot of families and units in the past few years which has the University in a place of rebuilding our staff. We really need your support as we only have a few courses filled. If you have been enrolled in graduate studies in the past, please contact Michael Hockman so he can discuss your next steps towards finishing your degree.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you and your Scouts next year.

Colonial District Roundtable
Next Roundtable: Thursday September 15, 2022 at 7pm
We would like to invite you to the Colonial District Roundtable the 3rd Thursday of every month at Centre Point Community Church (9580 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32825). Doors open for gathering at 6:30pm, and opening flag is at 7pm. Roundtable is a great way for Scout leaders to share ideas, network and get information about our Council and District. Ideally, every unit in our Council should try to have at least one leader attend every month so that you can take what you learn to your Units!
The September Roundtable will feature a special International Fair to be enjoyed by youth and adult scouts and scouters—from Cubs to Venturing—so bring your youth with you! Attendees will travel from booth to booth learning about the different cultures represented in our district! The Order of the Arrow will be reintroducing the OA Grill in September, so you can pre-order a meal to eat before the meeting (menu and pre-order details below)! Program-specific breakout sessions will be short this month due to the International Fair; but as always, bring your questions and ideas to share! The feature topics of program breakout groups are below:
Cub Scout Program Breakout: Working with Small Dens and Packs
Scouts BSA Program Breakout: Leader Recruitment and Succession Planning
Looking ahead to next month…At the October Round Table (10/20/22), we will have a ‘Meet the Troops’ event at which fifth-grade AOL scouts can meet scouts from participating district Scouts BSA Troops. (See separate announcement on signing up your Scouts BSA Troop to participate.) October RT will also include a breakout session on this year’s Recharter process. Recharter leads from every unit are requested to attend this session.
Thank you all for making our Colonial District Roundtable the most attended Roundtable in the Council!! Don’t forget bring a friend. If you have any announcements or messages you would like to present or convey please contact Mike Hockman, Roundtable Chair, [email protected]

REGISTER to Participate in October RT ‘Meet the Troops’ Event
Scouts BSA Troops are invited to host a ‘Meet and Greet Table’ at October’s Round Table Meeting to promote your unit to participating Webelos and AOL families. This event grew out of a desire from Webelos/AOL scouts nearing ‘crossover’ time to have a way to interact with a wider range of Scouts BSA troops in the area beyond their traditional feeder troop(s). Last year we held this event for the first time and had over 100 persons in attendance. October RT is on 10/20/22 at Centerpointe Church, setup starting at 6:30pm, with the open Meet and Greet starting around 7:15pm.
Please register your Scouts BSA Troop to host a table by emailing Mike Hockman at [email protected].

With a new Scouting Year come new training needs. School nights are beginning and hundreds of new scout leaders will join our ranks along with thousands of new scouts. Please pass the word to all parents and volunteers that our scouts deserve trained leaders. As unit leaders, imagine a pack, troop, crew, or ship with 100% trained leaders!
Online Training Opportunities. Here is how to get caught up with online training
• Take the online course for your registered position via https://my.scouting.org/. Remember that if you change positions, you need to register for the new role and take the training for that role to be considered “TRAINED.” Visit my.scouting.org for all your online training needs!
• Every leader must be Youth Protection trained. Don’t let it expire!
In-Person Training Opportunities. Trainings offered via online courses are also sometimes offered as in-person trainings. There are other courses (e.g., BALOO, IOLS, etc.) that are ONLY offered in-person. You may attend trainings hosted by Colonial District or any of the other Districts in the Central Florida Council. Some of the offerings are listed below. Visit the Council Training Calendar to see all the training opportunities available within our Council.
